TGIF: Weekend Update!

Glad to see so many people up and walking. I've been severely preoccupied (some might call it obsessed) with the new little bundle of joy in our lives and haven't been updating (or walking) as much as I should be.  This weekend we have family coming in from out of town and I'm single parenting it, so go ahead and post on this same thread for the rest of the weekend.

WALK AND TALK

9am
Meet at my house (text for address)
If you can't meet until later, meet us at Cataldi park.
From my house to Cataldi and around and back is 3.75 miles. Those wanting more miles can loop around twice.

Text me if you're coming. I have to be at Mickey's play by 2 so will only be walking until 11:00am

Week 3: Day 2

15 days left till the end of the challenge! How are you pacing yourselves? You should be approx 1/2 way done with your challenge...if not, speed things up this week so you don't make yourselves crazy at the end (member how you used to do during finals week because you spent the whole semester getting drunk at Peanuts? Member?)

Alrighty folks. It's chilly out there, but not raining! Throw your hoodies on and get going!

Week 2 / Day 3: Luuuucy! You got some splaining to do!

And by Lucy....I mean Yolanda! These lunges are kiiiiiilling me.

So Iliana offers to do them with me. My partner, my main supporter and cheerleader. I think, yay. Some bonding time for my first born and me! So I'm huffing and puffing to 25. We switch legs. She gives me a crazy look probably wondering why I'm crying. I convince her they're happy tears and we continue. We finish. She high fives me. I look at her with tears streaming down my face and whisper in agony, "no baby...there's more". She shrugs her shoulders. No biggie. Even does this youthful skip as she switches legs again. Show-off.

We continue onward and finally after stopping for some CPR, we finish. I look at her with pride and a feel-good attitude and await my high five. She narrows her eyes at me like only Iliana can do and says, "that's it?". *sigh* I grunt yes and call for Tita. My youngest (and laziest) child gets me like noone else can. She hugs me and says "good job mommy". And for the next 30 seconds, yes, she is my favorite child.

Here's hoping you all fared better than I. Happy Hump Day.

Week 2/Day 1 & 2: Pay Attention!

New week, new rules, new miles!

Notice that during week 1, the winners of most categories were those that logged their miles every day. So let's get on it friends (that's totally directed to me!!).

1 thing I forgot from our last challenges was that when reporting your miles, you need to report your time too.

2/21: 1 mile - 4 minutes (hahahahahahahahahahahaha)
Blasa

That's what a check-in should look like. So make sure it looks like that. Make sure you're reporting your miles in on time.  Time to crack the whip and get busy ya'll!!

P.S. Challengers who haven't posted any miles by the end of this week will be removed :-)

Week 2: The Challenge

Day 5: TGIF!

Well, it's almost the end of week 1 and definitely the end of the work week. Enjoy your holiday weekends...and try to get some miles in!

We'll be having a walk and talk THIS SUNDAY at Berryessa Park. Since I know most people are going to be out of town this weekend, just come on by if you can. We'll be there at 10am.

Thursday, February 17, 2011

Day 4: Shoe Envy

Okay so I have a friend...we'll call him...shmozzie, who is trying to convince me that these new finger tennis shoes are the NEXT BIG THING.  I kinda don't care how much engineering facts you share, the simple fact that you can pick things up with your toes while wearing them...is enough to ensure that these are shoes I will NEVER be wearing..but I did find these snazzy ones to the right that I think would be PERFECT for him for maybe a date night?

On that note..noone told me that losing weight makes your feet smaller.  Who knew! I thought I had jumped up 1.5sizes  because I had kids (oh ya, totally blamed it on my kids).  The good news is I'm losing weight...the bad news is all of my shoes are basically fancy flip-flops...oh wait, maybe it's not bad news...SHOE SHOPPING TIME!

Get your miles on.

Day 3: Hurts So Good....

Nice Tats...lol
Anyone else who's participating in the weekly challenge feeling the burn of those 100 crunches..or is that just my unexercising, lazy self? But it's a good YOUCH. The kind that reminds you that somewhere underneath the nachos and reece's there is some remnant of muscles waiting to be HOOKED UP.  So a-hooking I will go!

Stay dry. Remember there are lots of places you can walk indoors. The gym, the mall (um, doesn't count if you stop to shop and/or eat by the way), etc.  Don't let anything keep you from completing your miles!

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Day 2: Buuuuuurp! ('scuse me)

Good job for those that got up and got some miles in on lover's day and high five to those of you that figured out OTHER ways to burn off calories (insert middle school boy giggle here).

While I didn't consume any chocolate hearts, I DID enjoy a nice piece of heart-shaped pizza...which leads me to wonder....does pizza have calories if it's in the shape of a heart?

Talk amongst yourselves....

Day 1: Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

Oh yep, it's that time of year.  Time to start the challenge!! Oh wait, and it's also Valentine's Day. What better way to get that heart going than with a nice brisk walk/run in the rain? Take your special someone, hold hands, play some love songs on your ipod and share ear buds...Romantic..right??

Alright folks. Day 1. If you complete any miles for today, post them here before midnight (or text me).  Get your miles on!

Oh and Gloria has the right idea. Get your weekly daily challenge done early and report in on the post below...you know the one....with the half-nekkid man down there.

Week 1 Challenge: I'm Not a Player...I Just Crunch-A-Lot

This is where you would post daily if you wanted to compete in the weekly challenge.  This week's challenge is none other than....THE CRUNCH CHALLENGE.  That's right folks. To complete this week's challenge, you must complete 100 crunches DAILY...and report them done DAILY.

So get your crunch on and come back to THIS POST. Under comments, report something like 2/14: Crunches done and there you go.  Or you can text me BEFORE MIDNIGHT that you completed the daily challenge.

Only those that report their completed challenge daily will earn a 2-mile credit at the end of the week! (Sunday).  Let's get 'er done!

**Extra points if you do the crazy face that homie is doing above**

It's Challenge Tiiiimmmme!!

Alrighty folks...It's time for another holiday to holiday challenge! The new year has come and gone. Time to shed some of that holiday weight and/or to start your taining for the big marathons/walks/races you have ahead of you all this summer!  Most of you have done one of these before, but for the newbies (and the oldbies who like to forget the rules)...here we go!

Goal: To complete 45 miles of walking/jogging/running between Valentine's Day and St. Patty's Day

Dates:
2/14 to 3/17

Measuring Miles: You must use a pedometer, a marked trail or treadmill to keep an accurate measurement of your miles.

Completing Miles: You must report your miles daily.  This is where the accountability comes in.  Every day a new blog post will be posted.  You can report your miles by adding a comment to that daily post or texting me your miles for the day (ya'll have my # already).  NO REPORTING MILES AFTER MIDNIGHT THAT DAY! (too old and married for after midnight texting)
Weekly Challenge: At the end of each week, the person who has logged the most miles for the week will be announced.  That person will come up with a challenge for everyone to do daily the following week.  If you choose to participate in the weekly challenge, you must complete your challenge daily AND report it daily in order to get credit.  At the end of the week, all of those who participated and successfully completed the challenge will earn credit miles for that week.  Week 1 Challenge is already posted...that's right, look over to your left! There it is.

Weekly Walk and Talks:  Every week, we will post a walk and talk. A location/time/day will be announced and you are all invited to show up and get your miles on. Walk at your own pace. With a partner or with an ipod.  These have proven to be tons of fun and a great way to log in a big amount of miles! Again, totally optional but TOTALLY fun :).
And the Challengers are......
  1. Celeste
  2. Yolanda
  3. Maggie
  4. Elodia
